Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Young and energetic staff, pretty cool customers. Never been here before so we called ahead to see if we can bring a child. The answer was, “Sure, do you need a high chair?”, we didn’t need one. The food was really good, the soups were rich and flavorful, the entrees were well cooked and tasty. I personally loved the variety of seafood options, I loved the Mediterranean vibe. I wish they didn’t leave my husband without water and drink during the main course, otherwise this would have been a 5 star review."
"We started as a party of 5 & unexpectedly turned into a party of ten on a busy Saturday night. They cheerfully accommodated us. The food was incredible, from apps to dessert. I think we tried everything on the menu... eggplant rollatini mozzarella carrozza, cheesy garlic bread, pasta w/ bolognese, shrimp scampi & so much more! The food was so good, we asked the chef to come out so we could thank him personally. Such an incredible night."
"I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of Zuppa until recently - this is totally a hidden gem! Everything was so flavorful, even the olive oil with fresh Italian bread! You can tell everything is made from scratch, and even the drinks were fantastic. The calamari was crispy and served with such a good marinara sauce that I could’ve drank honestly, and the meatballs were fantastic. Delicious French onion soup and Caesar salad, and the chicken Milanese was piled with arugula and veggies. The pork chop was super tender and the homemade cheesecake for dessert was a great way to end the meal. I can’t wait to visit again already! The food came out very quickly, and the servers were attentive. It was a classic dining room and everything was clean."
"One of my top restaurants in Connecticut, hands down. It happens to be owned by people I know, but that’s not why it’s my favorite... the food speaks for itself every single time. Everything that comes out of that kitchen is incredible. The portions are huge (I always leave with leftovers), and somehow it tastes just as amazing...if not better... the next day. They put so much heart into the menu. All the desserts are homemade, and when I tell you the rice pudding is heaven, I mean it... I’ve made a habit of ordering one to go every time. They even had lavender martinis when we were there, and the lavender was grown at the owner’s house and boiled into simple syrup. Like… who does that anymore?! It’s those little touches that make it feel like Italian grandma cooking... cozy, thoughtful, and full of comfort. The staff is wonderful and welcoming, you never feel rushed, and you can tell they actually care whether you’re enjoying yourself. Plenty of parking and tons of seating, but if you’re coming on a Friday or Saturday night, definitely call ahead...they fill up fast for a reason. If you love homemade food that tastes like someone put their heart into it (and you want a dessert that will ruin you for all other rice puddings), Zuppa is absolutely worth the visit."
"Zuppa is hands-down our favorite restaurant. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a smile, and the staff make you feel like family. If you’re looking for an excellent home-cooked meal with a great atmosphere, this is the place to go. The cocktails are fantastic, and you truly will never have a bad time at Zuppa. My husband and I actually discovered this gem the day we moved to town. We were covered head to toe in paint with no furniture in our new home, so we decided to head out for dinner, and stumbled into Zuppa. It’s been our go-to ever since, and now we eat there about once a week. Every visit feels special, and it has become such a meaningful part of our lives here. Everyone is welcome at Zuppa. Highly, highly recommend!"
"Wow! Went into this little restaurant not knowing what to expect. We had a party of 8 for an early afternoon Sat evening dinner. Very casual atmosphere. Menu was fantastic! Everything from the appetizers to the salads (Homemade dressing) to our main meals were absolutely delicious. Everything is made from SCRATCH! Wait staff was on point, cocktails were delish. Pricing was well below your average restaurant. The entire meal with drinks came to about 120 per couple. By the time we left, the ENTIRE restaurant was full. Not one table to be had. We all went home with leftovers. Hands down I will be back again and again, Do not change one thing about your place."
"Enjoyed a very Tasty Sunday dinner with my family. We ordered from their Specials menu. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I started with their mozzarella Sticks and fried calamari. Mozzarella sticks were an original! Plenty of sauce to enjoy with them. Fried Calamari, could've been breaded or fried lightly but I enjoyed them. For my entree, I had their Shrimp and Scallop Scampi prepared with Fettuccine paired with broccoli. My wife had their stuffed Salmon with Rissoto. Both dishes extremely satisfying and very tasty. Our waitress was very nice warm and inviting. Needless to say we will be back. Specials were pricey but worth every penny!"
"My husband and I went for my birthday dinner, we went early and didn't realize that there was a different menu for lunch. The waitress was very kind and gave us a dinner menu. She was very sweet and attentive. We orders the bolognese, in which is amazing and exactly what zi wanted and steak au poivre in which my husband raved about. Well worth going and the prices are decent for the portion size. Thank you for making my day special!"
